Podcast Marketing Tips to Boost Your Organic Reach

With millions of podcasts available, promoting your podcast can be challenging, especially if you want to do it off social media. A past client recently asked me:

"How can I promote a new podcast off the matrix and in a non-disruptive way?”

If you’ve been wondering about this same thing, I invite you to follow my tips. While social media has its place in the whole marketing plan, it’s not the only way to introduce new listeners to your show. And it’s okay to want to diversify your marketing to include ways to boost your organic reach.

Email your newsletter list subscribers

Email marketing is a proven way to reach out to your listeners and keep them informed when new episodes are dropped. For each new release, send an email to your subscribers. Give them the episode summary plus point them towards locations where they can listen in. Don’t forget to include a call-to-action, such as asking them to share the episode with a friend, subscribe, leave a comment, or click a link to any resource mentioned in the episode.

Be a guest on other podcasts

Guesting on other podcasts is an effective way to reach new audiences and promote your podcast. When you're a guest on another podcast, mention your podcast and where listeners can find it. This can encourage people to check out your podcast and become subscribers.

Include your podcast link in your email signature

Adding a link to your podcast in your email signature is an easy and always visible way to promote your podcast without being pushy. Think about how many emails you send in a week. Each click to Send is an opportunity to market what you’re talking about on your show plus you could even tease out an upcoming episode or coming-soon guest interview. When you send an email the link to your podcast is there, and interested people will click through.

Post your episodes on a blog

If you have a blog on your website, post your podcast episodes with an SEO-rich post. Regularly adding new content to your website and podcast feeds the search engines and helps your website (and podcast show) rank higher in search results. When you write your post include the episode title, keywords, and a summary of what the episode is about. What you’re discussing on your show may be the answer to what others are searching for when they do Google searches. Let’s help them find you, your podcast, and your website.

In conclusion, promoting your podcast without being on social media can be challenging, but it's not impossible. It’s simply thinking of marketing from a different perspective. Email marketing, guesting on other podcasts, including your podcast in your email signature, and posting your episodes on a blog are all great ways to promote your podcast organically. By following these tips, you can grow your audience and increase the reach of your podcast.
